Teacher policy
The standards our teachers hold themselves to.
Our teaching philosophy
The teacher is a co-creator of the learning environment, guiding and inspiring through music, movement and mindful care, to awaken imagination, build emotional intelligence and foster lifelong joy in learning.
Professional conduct
- Professional tone and manner at all times, with colleagues, parents and children.
- In front of children, colleagues are addressed as “Mr.” or “Ms.” with their first name.
- A collegial, courteous environment that models collaboration and kindness; no gossip or idle chatter during child-contact time.
Leave
- 10 casual leave days per academic year, pro-rated for mid-year joiners. Emergency leave must be informed by 6:30 am the same day.
- Frequent or unplanned leave disrupts children's routines and is reviewed.
Lesson planning
- Weekly lesson plans are submitted in advance, aligned with curriculum goals for music, movement and early years learning.
- Teachers arrive 30 minutes early to prepare learning spaces.
Safeguarding
- Teachers report any signs of distress, abuse, neglect or unusual behaviour immediately to the Child Safeguarding Officer, and self-report any situation that may breach policy.
- Annual safeguarding and first-aid training is mandatory.
Notice period
Teachers complete the full academic year where possible; resignations are given at year end with at least three months' written notice.
